Who Must Follow This Checklist?
All students applying for NEET UG 2026 Tamil Nadu counselling — whether under State Quota, Government Quota, Management Quota, Minority Quota, NRI Quota or the 7.5% Government School Reservation — must ensure every required certificate is available before counselling begins.
Documents Required for ALL Candidates
Every applicant appearing for NEET 2026 Tamil Nadu counselling must compulsorily keep the following documents ready, regardless of the quota they are applying under:

Eligibility Certificate — Who Needs It?
Students from Tamil Nadu State Board, CBSE, and ICSE do NOT need an eligibility certificate from Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University. Only students from other boards (e.g., ISC, State boards of other states, international boards) are required to obtain this certificate.

7.5% Government School Reservation Documents
Candidates claiming the 7.5% Special Preferential Reservation for Government School Students must note that the document requirement differs based on their batch year:

7.5% Reservation — Document Requirements
Based on year of HSC completion
📅 Before 2022–2023 Batch
- Bonafide Certificate required proving continuous education in Government Schools from Class 6 to Class 12
- Certificate must be issued by the Chief Educational Officer (CEO) of the respective district
- Must cover all years from Std 6 through Std 12 without breaks

- No separate Bonafide Certificate needed for these students
- Verification will be completed directly through the EMIS Portal by authorities
- Students must ensure their school data is correctly updated in EMIS

7.5% Reservation — Important Clarification
The Bonafide Certificate for the 7.5% reservation must cover Class 6 to Class 12 completely. Even a single year in a private or aided school during this period may disqualify a candidate from this reservation. The certificate must be issued specifically by the Chief Educational Officer (CEO) — not by the Headmaster or school directly.
Important Tips Before Counselling

Make Multiple Photocopies — Keep at least 5–6 sets of photocopies of all certificates. Certificate verification counters often require multiple copies of the same document.

Scan All Documents in PDF Format — Scan every certificate clearly at high resolution and save as PDF files. Keep them in a folder on your phone and cloud storage for easy access during online counselling.

Verify Name, DOB and Community Details — Ensure that your name, date of birth, and community details match exactly across all certificates. Even minor spelling differences can cause rejection during verification.

Check Certificate Authority — Community certificates, nativity certificates and income certificates must be issued by the competent revenue authority (Tahsildar or above). School-issued certificates for community are not accepted.

Keep Originals Ready — Original documents are always required for final certificate verification. Never submit originals unless officially instructed — always submit attested copies and keep originals with you.

Don't Wait for Counselling Dates — Start collecting documents now. Some certificates (like eligibility certificates, relationship certificates for NRI) take time. Apply for them immediately.
