Step 1 of 5

Register — If You Need To

General pool (GQ / MQ / NRI / self-financing)

You do not need to register again if you:

  • Registered for Round 1 but weren't allotted a seat
  • Were allotted a seat in Round 1 but didn't join
  • Already joined your seat and opted for upgradation (it now shows automatically as a “virtual vacancy”)
  • Are happy with your current seat and don't want a change

You do need to act during the registration window if you:

  • Joined your seat, said “No” to upgradation earlier, but have now changed your mind — log in now to confirm, or you lose upgrade eligibility
  • Haven't registered at all yet — fresh registration is still open, but only if you already applied through the TN Medical Selection Committee and your name is on the published Merit List

7.5% Tamil Nadu Government School Reservation

If you're applying under the 7.5% TN Government School Reservation, the rule is more direct: anyone without an allotted seat must register for Round 2 — it isn't optional the way it is for the general pool. There's no processing fee, security deposit, or tuition fee for this category, though the same upgrade and retention rules above still apply once you're in the system.

Step 2 of 5

Fill & Lock Your Choices

Choice filling opens 9 September, 2:00 PM. Locking only becomes available from 12 September, 10:00 AM (after All India Quota results), and anything still unlocked by 13 September, 2:00 PM is automatically locked as-is.

  • Take your time weighing options, but don't leave locking to the last minute — anything still unlocked by 13 September, 2:00 PM gets automatically locked as-is.
  • You can edit your choices freely before locking, but once locked, they're final.
  • Fill choices only for colleges you'd genuinely accept — the system won't let you undo a locked list.
Step 3 of 5

What Happens After Locking

  • Get upgraded in Round 2? You must give up your Round 1 seat entirely — there's no reverting to it, even if you skip joining the new one.
  • Get the same seat again? That's counted as “retained,” and the same rules that applied in Round 1 continue to apply.
  • Freshly allotted but don't want to join? You can skip it and still take part in later rounds without penalty — this is the “free exit” rule.
  • Discontinuing your course? Before the official resignation date (to be announced), you remain eligible for later rounds. After that date, you're limited to Round 3 only, and you forfeit your registration fee and security deposit.
Virtual vacancy

A seat that looks open only because its Round 1 holder opted to try for an upgrade. It becomes a real, allottable vacancy only if that candidate actually moves up in Round 2.

Step 4 of 5

Pay Fees & Download Your Allotment Order

  • Freshly allotted an MBBS seat (any category) or a BDS seat in a Government Dental College? You'll need to pay the tuition fee before downloading your provisional allotment order.
  • SC/SCA/ST/SCC candidates in Government or Management quota with parental income below ₹2.5 lakh (per the income certificate already on file) are exempt from this upfront payment.
  • BDS admission in Self-Financing Dental Colleges is paid directly at the college.
  • Already paid in Round 1 and now re-allotted? You only pay the difference, if any.
  • Check tnmedicalselection.org for the exact fee structure, and make sure your account has enough headroom for the transaction.
Step 5 of 5

Report to Your Allotted College

  • Carry your original certificates plus scanned copies for verification — this happens in person at the college.
  • Miss your reporting deadline and your admission is cancelled automatically, with no further notice.
  • You'll sign a self-declaration at reporting — admission can be cancelled later if any submitted information turns out to be false.
  • The Selection Committee does not contact candidates individually — check tnmedicalselection.org regularly for updates.
  • Never share your login ID, password, or OTP with anyone.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to register again for TN Round 2 if I already have a seat?

Not in most cases. If you registered for Round 1 but weren't allotted, were allotted but didn't join, or already joined and opted for upgradation, you don't need to register again. You only need to actively log in if you'd previously said “No” to upgradation and changed your mind, or if you never registered at all (and you're on the published Merit List).

What is a virtual vacancy?

A virtual vacancy is a seat that looks open only because its Round 1 holder opted to try for an upgrade. It becomes a real, allottable vacancy only if that candidate actually moves up in Round 2.

When does TN Round 2 registration close?

Registration and payment (for those who haven't already paid) close on 8 September 2026 at 5:00 PM.

Is there a fee for the 7.5% Tamil Nadu Government School quota?

No. There is no processing fee, security deposit or tuition fee for the 7.5% Tamil Nadu Government School Reservation category.

What happens if I don't lock my choices before the deadline?

Any choices still unlocked by 13 September 2026, 2:00 PM are automatically locked as they stand, so it's best not to leave locking to the last minute.
