What is AIIMS?
All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) are India's most prestigious autonomous public medical institutions — declared Institutes of National Importance by an Act of Parliament.

Established under an Act of Parliament in 1956, AIIMS institutions are governed directly by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India. No state quota — 100% All India Quota.
🎓 World-Class Education at Minimal Cost
Despite being premier institutions, AIIMS charges one of the lowest MBBS fees in the world — just ₹1,628 per year in tuition fees. The complete course fee for the entire 4.5-year MBBS is only ₹5,856.
📝 Admission via NEET UG
Since 2020, all AIIMS MBBS admissions are done through NEET UG scores, with counselling conducted by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC). AIIMS Delhi demands 700+ marks to be competitive.
🔬 Research & PG via INI CET
Postgraduate (PG) admissions across all AIIMS are conducted via INI CET. AIIMS Delhi consistently ranks #1 in NIRF Medical Rankings for over 8 consecutive years.

The MBBS programme at AIIMS Madurai is 4.5 years followed by a mandatory 1-year Compulsory Rotatory Internship.

Admission Process — Step by Step
Admission is through NEET UG scores, counselled by MCC. No separate AIIMS entrance exam since 2020.
Qualify NEET UG
Appear and qualify in NTA's NEET UG. Aim for 650+ for newer AIIMS and 700+ for AIIMS New Delhi.
Register on MCC Portal
Visit mcc.nic.in and register for AIIMS UG counselling. Fill in preferences including AIIMS Madurai.
Seat Allotment
MCC allots seats based on NEET All India Rank, category and college preferences. Results on mcc.nic.in.
Report to AIIMS Madurai
Report to Ramanathapuram GMC campus by 9:00 AM on allotted date along with parents/guardian.
Verification & Admission
Document verification + medical exam. Pay fees via SBI Collect. Sign Honour Code. Provisional admission granted.
Documents Required at Admission
Bring ALL originals + one self-attested photocopy set + 6 recent passport-size photographs.
Hostel & Campus Facilities
AIIMS Madurai currently operates from its temporary campus at Ramanathapuram. Permanent campus in Madurai city is under development.
🏠 Hostel Accommodation
Private accommodation 7 km from hospital, 11 km from medical college. Separate hostels for boys and girls. Sharing basis only. Priority for outstation candidates.
🚌 Transport Facility
Institute-provided transport between hostel and medical college for all academic purposes. Personal vehicles not allowed in hostel premises.
🍽️ Mess Facility
Compulsory for hostellers. Advance of one month's mess charges required. Online payment only. Cooking not allowed in rooms.
🏛️ Permanent Campus
AIIMS Madurai permanent campus in Madurai city is under development. Institute will shift from Ramanathapuram once construction is complete.
