TN NEET 2026 Round 2 Cutoff — MBBS & BDS
A Round 1 vs Round 2 reading of the Tamil Nadu Government Quota allotment lists, broken down by community and by college group, so you know where you stand before the next round.
Tamil Nadu released the Round 2 provisional allotment results for MBBS and BDS admissions under the Government Quota on 15 September 2026. Jupiter Academy compared that list against the Round 1 allotment list dated 27 August 2026 to see exactly how the closing mark and rank moved for each community, across Government, Self-Financing (SF), Private Government Quota and ESIC colleges.
Important: The figures on this page are Jupiter Academy's own reading of the two provisional allotment lists released by the counselling authority. Treat them as observed closing marks and ranks — not as an independently declared official cutoff. The original PDFs are linked in the downloads section below so you can verify any number yourself.
Government Medical Colleges
Here is how the closing mark and rank moved for each community in fully Government-run medical colleges:
| Community | Round 1 (27 Aug) | Round 2 (15 Sep) |
|---|---|---|
| OC | 577 / Rank 1369 | 574 / Rank 1467 |
| BC | 536 / Rank 3392 | 533 / Rank 3560 |
| BCM | 523 / Rank 4313 | 521 / Rank 4412 |
| MBC/DNC | 526 / Rank 4053 | 525 / Rank 4139 |
| SC | 472 / Rank 9036 | 471 / Rank 9122 |
| SCA | 436 / Rank 13012 | 436 / Rank 13034 |
| ST | 433 / Rank 13347 | 424 / Rank 14297 |
Government college seats remain the most contested in the state — OC candidates were closing in the mid-570s in both rounds, while reserved categories opened up progressively lower down the merit list.

For Self-Financing Medical Colleges under the Government Quota, the observed closing figures were:

Round 1 allotments here included Kanyakumari Medical Mission Research Center, Takshashila Medical College and Sri Venkateswaraa Medical College Hospital and Research Institute, among others.
ESIC MBBS Cutoff
ESIC MBBS allotments appear separately in the allotment data as A1_MBBS (ESIC):
| Community | Round 1 (27 Aug) | Round 2 (15 Sep) |
|---|---|---|
| OC | 588 / Rank 1009 | 588 / Rank 1009 |
| BC | 574 / Rank 1454 | 573 / Rank 1487 |

| SC | 504 / Rank 5922 | 502 / Rank 6109 |
| SCA | 472 / Rank 9026 | 472 / Rank 9026 |
| ST | 462 / Rank 10191 | 462 / Rank 10191 |
In Round 1, an OC candidate at rank 1009 with 588 marks was allotted a seat at ESI-PGIMSR, ESI Hospital, K.K. Nagar, Chennai, under this category.
What changed between Round 1 and Round 2?
Movement in both marks and rank shows up across almost every community and college group. Lower closing marks or higher closing ranks in Round 2 usually come down to a mix of:
- Candidates retaining their Round 1 allotment
- Candidates upgrading to a different college
- Vacancies created during the counselling process
- Re-allotment of seats
- Category-wise seat movement
- Candidate choices and which colleges were still available
- Conversion or movement of available seats within the process
The official Round 2 list also carries "Allotted From," "Allotted To" and "Status" columns, so you can trace whether a given allotment was retained or upgraded from Round 1.
How to read a TN NEET cutoff number
A single mark or rank doesn't tell the whole story. Your own admission chances rest on five things together, not any one of them in isolation:
1. Your NEET score
Your NEET 2026 marks fix your position on the overall merit list.
2. Your community
OC, BC, BCM, MBC/DNC, SC, SCA and ST candidates see different allotment patterns, as the tables above show.
3. Your general rank
Two candidates with near-identical marks can still land at different points on the merit list.
4. The college category
Your options differ across Government Medical Colleges, Self-Financing Medical Colleges, Private GQ Medical Colleges, ESIC, and Government/SF Dental Colleges.
5. How you fill your choices
The order you list colleges in during counselling can meaningfully change what you're allotted.
Will my NEET 2026 rank get me an MBBS seat in Tamil Nadu?
Marks alone won't answer this. A proper read needs all of the following together:
The Round 2 list is a good illustration of why: candidates were retained at their Round 1 college or moved to a different one purely based on how the counselling process played out. A single cutoff number is a reference point, never a guarantee.
Government vs SF vs Private vs ESIC — Round 2 at a glance
A broad, single-round comparison across the four college groups discussed above:
| Seat type | OC | BC | MBC/DNC | SC | ST |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Government | 574 | 533 | 525 | 471 | 424 |
| SF | 517 | 486 | 483 | 434 | 390 |
| Private GQ | 488 | 482 | 477 | 431 | 377 |
| ESIC | 588 | 573 | 561 | 502 | 462 |
A counselling-analysis reference only — the actual allotment in any round depends on the full seat matrix, your category, your choices, and what's still available.
A note on special-category seats: the comparison above is a general read and doesn't extend to every special-category allotment. The source lists also include entries under PWD, Sports, Children of Ex-servicemen, IRT Ward, CMC-related allotments and other special categories — the Round 1 list, for instance, includes an IRT Ward allotment — and these follow their own separate eligibility and seat conditions.
TN NEET 2026 BDS Cutoff
The same Government Quota allotment lists also carry BDS allotments across Government and Self-Financing Dental Colleges. The Round 2 list, for example, includes BDS allotments to colleges such as Priyadharshini Dental College, Rajas Dental College, Asan Memorial Dental College and others.
If you haven't secured an MBBS seat, it's worth weighing your BDS options with the same rigour — BDS Government Colleges, BDS Government Quota seats in Self-Financing colleges, your community, your rank and your college preferences — rather than treating BDS as a fallback you look at only later.
What to do after Round 2
If you've received an allotment, go through each of these before you do anything else:
- Confirm the allotted college
- Confirm the course — MBBS or BDS
- Confirm your community/category as recorded
- Confirm the allotted quota
- Check whether the allotment is retained or upgraded from Round 1
- Read the reporting and admission instructions carefully
- Gather the required documents
- Check the fee and payment requirements
- Note the next counselling opportunity, if one applies to you
Don't make a final decision based only on a closing mark shown on any analysis page — this one included.

Frequently asked questions
What is the TN NEET 2026 Round 2 cutoff?
There isn't a single number. The Round 2 cutoff changes by community (OC, BC, BCM, MBC/DNC, SC, SCA, ST), by course (MBBS or BDS), and by college group (Government, Self-Financing, Private Government Quota, or ESIC). Use the tables above for your specific community and seat type.
When was the TN NEET 2026 Round 2 allotment released?
The Tamil Nadu Government Quota Round 2 provisional allotment list is dated 15 September 2026, following the Round 1 list dated 27 August 2026.
What is the TN NEET 2026 Government MBBS cutoff?
In Round 2, the observed Government college closing marks ranged from 574 (OC) down to 424 (ST), with BC, BCM, MBC/DNC, SC and SCA falling in between. See the Government Medical Colleges table above for the exact mark and rank for each community.
Is the Round 2 cutoff lower than Round 1?
In most categories reviewed, Round 2 closed at a slightly lower mark or higher rank than Round 1. That isn't true everywhere — ESIC, for example, stayed flat for several communities. Movement is category- and college-specific, so check the relevant table rather than assuming a blanket drop.
Can I get an MBBS seat in Tamil Nadu with my NEET 2026 rank?
That depends on your rank, community, course preference, quota, college preferences, and how many vacancies open up in the round you're counselling in — a previous round's closing rank alone can't guarantee a seat. Share your details with our counsellors for a realistic read on your options.
What is the difference between Government and SF MBBS seats?
Both are Government Quota seats, but they sit in different college groups. GQ_MBBS (Govt. Colleges) refers to seats in fully government-run medical colleges, while GQ_MBBS (SF Colleges) refers to Government Quota seats inside self-financing, privately run medical colleges. Government college seats are typically more competitive.
Does ESIC have a separate cutoff category?
Yes. ESIC MBBS seats are listed separately in the allotment data as A1_MBBS (ESIC), and their closing marks are usually higher than Government, SF or Private GQ seats in the same community.
Are these official, final cutoffs?
No. These are Jupiter Academy's own reading of the provisional Round 1 and Round 2 allotment lists released by the counselling authority. Treat them as observed closing marks and ranks, not as an independently declared official cutoff, and cross-check against the original PDFs linked above.
